Hakvoort starts build of Project Adur, a 45 meter world-cruising fast aluminium motoryacht

Oct 3, 2018

We herewith confirm a new order for a 45.2 meter fast aluminium motoryacht, sold and with build management by Ocean Independence. Both exterior and interior design are done by Omega Architects. Naval Architecture from  Van Oossanen, including the innovative Hull Vane®, will guarantee sea keeping qualities as well as speed and range.

The owner of this new project, who is heavily involved in the design process, was introduced to Hakvoort Shipyard by Ocean Independence after their successful cooperation on 38 meter canoe stern motor yacht Soprano, delivered in 2017.

Her design from Omega Architects features a highly innovative concept with clear and clean lines in a sturdy masculine exterior profile. Innovative details introduced by the Owner include scooped bulwarks with custom designed stainless handrail for each deck, which enable clear views to the sides from all decks with specific deck furniture designs. Likewise the rubrail has been removed to have a clean ‘shaved’ bulwark.

Below the waterline, Van Oossanen’s patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) is combined with the Hull Vane®, an innovative patented ‘underwater-spoiler’ placed below in the stern. As result of this combination, fuel consumption and ship motions are reduced with an average of 20 to 25%, effecting a significantly improved onboard comfort.

With her full aluminium fast displacement hull and Hull Vane spoiler and powered by two 2580 kW MTU (type12V 4000 M93L) diesel engines and two electric booster engines, Adur will be faster than most yachts of her size and reach an impressive speed of 26.5 knots.

Yet at a steady cruising speed of 12 knots, she has transatlantic capability with a range of 3800 nautical miles. Project Adur is designed for efficient performance and reduced emissions, allowing her owners to also visit sensitive ecological areas.

On board, her spacious accommodation will include an owner’s suite complete with private office located on the main deck, together with 3 guest staterooms on the lower deck. A gym will offer guests the opportunity to work out whilst a submarine is available to explore the underwater world.

Her general arrangement features a side boarding tender garage, a dedicated lazarette and dive shop behind a flush stern door. The bow garage will house the MOB and sub-marine, which space is combined with an enclosed anchor room up front.

The distinctive interior features floor to ceiling wrap-around  windows, a special Owner request, on both aft decks to create panorama views from main deck saloon and sky lounge, and allowing natural light to flood into the bright and fresh interior.

A contemporary welcoming elegant area with soft curves: wrap around wooden see-through slats create ‘curtains’ emphasizing the yacht’s waistline. Sophisticated dark and light contrasts – from sandy and off-white shades – will create subtle contrast with the water colours outside, while bronze details will add a touch of luxury.

The most eye-catching feature comes from the master stateroom design, boasting a loggia with extendable balcony, making the borders between inside and outside vanish and feel connected to the waters and surroundings as close as possible.

A peaceful comfortable ambiance airs throughout the yacht, the perfect place to relax and unwind in comfort with family.
